Europe looks more classy and atmospheric.

This game was insanely hard for a Disney title! I played it again on Switch and honestly don't understand how I got so far as a child without save states!

@Clyde_Radcliffe I feel that about the Donkey Kong Country games. How on EARTH did I ever beat any of them as a child?! Haha.

NA. Just looks more action packed and reflects the game better.

NA has scar. NA wins.

@Clyde_Radcliffe Yes i agree about that, but its not the hardest Disney game from that era, The Jungle book the SNES, (not the Mega drive version) Is the hardest Disney game ever made, i find it a lot harder then the Lion King, but they arent that many, talking about that. I dont think it was that sucessfull eather as it came out between aladdin and Lion King.

We had much more time, and much less games to play as kids.
I finished so many NES games even without really enjoying them, just for the sake of finishing them!

Here I thought NA would have this in the bag.

I like the European cover. Simba is still a cub on the cover and even his parents are there. It looks really friendly and familiar even with Scar and the Hyena. It also looks very beautiful with the sun.

This is one of my favourite Super Nintendo games from my childhood. The soundtrack is so good.

@Mana_Knight Lion King is harder, for the wrong reasons, than any DKC. We just had more time as kids to bash our heads against a game because it was what we rented or given as a gift so what else are we to do?

American is very good but generic
European is just iconic

While I like Europe's abstract cover, I went with North America. That's a VERY dynamic scene from later in the movie. Yes, my Disney bias is showing.

I had a babysitter who had this game on the Sega Genesis, and DANG was it hard. I think I only made it to the "I Just Can't Wait To Be King" level. Such precision required with clunky controls....

Yeah EU definitely, looking so good and so much more stylish.

I found this game difficult as a kid, but still loved playing it. Anyway, this was an easy choice, I voted for the North American boxart.

@Croctopus The title can apply to both of them. Scar was king until Simba returned to challenge him for the throne.

EU without doubt, sometimes less is more.

No if you really play on a regular basis you are a better player now. The real difference imo is that when we were kids we had about, what 2 or 4 games a year to play with ? That's the huge difference in my mind. Especially those of us who grew up with snes in pre internet days. We just don't approach the medium in the same way.

@Don I want to get a feeling maybe they couldn't find a high enough quality scan. A quick search finds only low-quality images and auction photos.

The NA one isn't bad, but the EU one just looks more majestic.
Though two of the characters didn't get the memo that they were supposed to face to the left.

Yeah, going to go with EU this week. The US box is fine, but the EU box is more artful.

@Bustacap EU looks like someone just took promotional artwork, quickly edited together in a photo editor, then pasted them onto a backdrop.

Those silhouettes really look like a copy and paste job.

I definitely prefer the EU one, just a fan of the minimalism of it.

That said if they wanted to accurately reflect the content of the game it'd be someone getting kicked in the teeth.

Can’t go wrong with either but something about the Europe one won me over.

My opinion is that the European cover is bad. Very bad. It's a terrible concept. It has awful framing. It's lazy(which is a synonym for classy, it seems). And to specifically address something mentioned here, that it looks "handsome" on a shelf, that notion is harmed by the gigantic border.

I almost sided with the spoilers point, but I figure everyone who played the game has seen the movie.

Yep, this Game was a Disappointment for me as a Kid, was way to unfair.
Aladdin was Worlds beyond in Playability.
I don't understand the modern Hype for that Game.
It was designed to rip off Time from People that are renting it.
Btw. imo all Virgin Disney Games are mediocre, Capcom did a much better Job gameplay wise with the Licences.

Ha, i've just read that Blockbuster had nearly 20% of Virgin ... No Wonder the Games were done that Way

@gamerswereamistake It did have a Japanese release, but it used the same art as the NA cover. There are a bunch of European releases for other platforms that have the same cover you like with better framing with regards to the various borders. So if that's the kind of thing someone would want on a shelf, all the other versions are better choices.

the european box art of Lion King, immideately made me think of Hakuna Matata(that nice)

I wouldn't buy either, the first has those goofy looking disney characters, the second one says Disney right on the cover twice. Not that I have anything against the company exactly, but none of those properties have ever appealed to me.

Clearly Europe. I always thought the NA art was boring, even as a kid.

Weird that you guys didn't think to include the Australian SNES boxart, which is byfar the best.

As it stands though, I voted for NA.

@Clyde_Radcliffe I do recall this being difficult, but only until I tried to help my little brother with Beauty and the Beast: Roar of the Beast on Sega Genesis. That game is ridiculously punishing!

It was a minor setback.
