Where To Pre-Order Super Mario RPG On Switch

Oh, I didn't realise the price had been announced. I've got it on SNES and (I've just discovered) SNES Classic Mini, so I won't be getting at that price it unless it adds something new. Glad it'll be easier for others to play though.

Full price, of course. Might get it anyway, though I kind of want a Japanese copy.

Don't tell me that's the definitive box art? Surely not?! It looks plain and generic.. which is the exact opposite of what the actual game is like!

Expected full price. It's getting the Link's Awakening level of treatment so that is fair.

I wonder why they dropped the "Legend of the Seven Stars" title from the game?

No I won't be getting it. I have it on the SNES mini, and it's not a game I play very often. I stopped at the haunted ship. Wonder why they didn't add Legend of the Seven Stars subtitle? The level scaling should have been better on the SNES then it is. Hopefully they'll fix that.

So basically, you can pre-order at all the same places as every other game. Im not sure if any of these are my perfered retailer but it'll do. Whooo, somebody done went to the Wal-Mart!

I am not thrilled about the price, but Super Mario RPG was my gateway into RPGs, even when I grew up playing the original Dragon Quest. It was this game that taught me as a kid that Dragon Quest wasn't "unique", but there was an entire genre out there to explore.

And more than the game? I'm on board for the remastered soundtrack. Yoko Shimomura's music is fantastic in the original, and what little was played during the trailer has me STOKED.

I am looking forward to getting it but I am curious why this gets a remake and not the classic main games like Super Mario Bros 1, 2 and 3 and Super Mario World. If they remade some of the Gameboy games too like Super Mario Land 1, 2 and 3 they would look incredibly different with modern graphics and get a lot of first time players who never played them before.

There's no, I'll repeat, NO way this is the box art. It would be as lazy as not making new games and just rereleasing games over and over again, or at best updating their graphics in order to make money.

To those that might defend it being similar to the Japanese boxart, that was 1996 where it was so incredible to actually have graphics like those in a video game it was borderline miraculous. This is 2023. While the new graphics look great they aren't so amazing that they deserve to be the only thing featured on the box art.

I'll add, 5 years ago you could have purchased this game and 20 others plus 2 controllers and an HDMI cord for $20 more than the price of this game.

I'll further add, this game is great so if you really care about graphics get it, but I'd still prefer a used SNES Mini if I didn't have one already.

The boxart is okay, the characters look great. But it does still look a bit basic. Maybe they'll change it a little later, or else that really is the boxart.

It could do with a background or something.

This is one game I'll be getting. New graphics, redone music. The price is a little high if they don't add anything else, but otherwise sounds good to me.

That's pretty tempting. I wonder if its release date would allow it to get in on black Friday/cyber Monday sales? Cant even remember how much in general Ninty gets in on those

Full price for an old snes game? It’s a great game, but bugger off Nintendo.

Really surprised Metroid Prime dropped at $40 and this is $60, while both Pikmin games are $50 combined when purchased as a set.

It's still five months away from release.

Maybe with enough backlash, Nintendo might consider changing the cover art.

It's certainly not the worst cover that I've ever seen, but it smacks of placeholder chic.

Hopefully that is not the cover art, please say its just a place holder.
I will get it, but going travelling September until February so will get it after that as need all the money I can get at the moment.

Taking into account the game is better than 95% of the games in market the price is justified. It is a remake after all, not a snes port.

It’s fairly shocking to see it at that price. I was expecting $40. It’s not a very long game, despite being such a fantastic RPG.

I don’t have a problem with the box art. It’s a callback. Also… it’s just box art.

@RudeAnimat0r looks fairly good to me. Im happy with the price for the amount of effort likely to go into the remake.

These are pre order prices, so I expect UK for release will be £40.
