Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 21st)

After watching the Digital Foundry review, I caved in and bought Wonder, even though I wanted to wait until next year. What sold me on it in particular, was their mention of the improved controls and motion. And I must say, yeah, they really nailed the character movement.

I don't have much time for gaming ATM, so it's nice to have a relatively easy game to pass the time here and there.

Juggling between Wonder and Spider-Man 2, might make time in between to return to the run I was doing of Ocarina of Time. Wondering about picking up Ghost Trick while it's on sale.

Hmmmmmm...... I Wonder what it could be

Yeah, this weekend will be all about Mario Wonder. Already loving the game from what I've played so far. Yet another Nintendo gem this year.

World of Horror got its full release finally so I'm playing some of that, great game and perfect for the october festivities.

I also started yet another playthrough on Rimworld, one of my recent all time favorites. I haven't played the game after its latest DLC had released so I'm kinda just doing a generic run without any real goals to see what all the new stuff potentially entails.

Mario Wonder on a rainy 3-days weekend

SMB Wonder, I don't see me playing any other games this weekend.

Just Wonder for me and watching the kids play The Spidered Man 2. I might dip in to some Presequel as well. So far, it's the Borderlands game that has clicked the most. Not sure why. It's just all very tight. It's kind of Mad Max on the moon, which doesn't hurt.

Mario… Kart (8D) - not played this much since the wii u and now I’ve got the online expansion pak with the extra courses I thought it was about time I put some effort. Currently going for gold on all the 150cc cups but I’m a little rusty it’s fair to say.

A bit of f zero 99, maybe some more Hades (rolled the credits last weekend but still loads to do). Also played some slay the spire on iPad - up to ascension level 7 and it’s hard!

I won't be playing any new game anytime soon. Right now Im currently working on playing every Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games from the start.

Ignored them growing up, but wanting to see why they are so beloved by many after seeing the mix reception of Final Fantasy 16, and the critical praise for Dragon Quest 11.

Planning to nab TotK and Wonder with a Game Voucher, but not quite yet. I’ve got a lot coming up soon, so Wonder will be nice to throw in with the family in the evenings. This weekend however, I will be splatting it up in Splatoon 3 as I won’t get to participate in Splatoween, so I want to get in some rounds before that. Then some Mario Party Superstars with friends (or at least they are friends for now! ) and INK because despite beating it I cannot let this little platformer go!

Apologies for the off topic post here, but can we all appreciate that despite how unfortunately bland of an ability Bubble Mario is, his outfit is absolutely fantastic?

SMB Wonder, i rarely buy games day 1 anymore, but i couldn't let a really good 2D Mario game slide.

Anyone else find the jump noise (boing) in Mario wonder to be really annoying? It’s annoying me 😆

Playing Super Mario Wonder. I’m liking it so far. I’ll make time for Danganraonpa 2 as well.

Right now I'm playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3. I'm not sure if I'm loving it, but it's getting better as I go on. I hated the combat but once I unlocked the ability to swap characters it all made sense. I think the story takes itself a little too seriously, yet the writing feels quite dumbed down at the same time. And I don't love any of the characters. Mio and Lanz seem the best so far. I'll probably finish it, but maybe not all the side quests. Looking forward to Star Ocean 2 when it comes out.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder. It is a fun and relaxing Mario game. Finishing the last levels of World 2 now. The Flower Kingdom is beautiful.

Okay, my controversial take. Wonder is great, but not in the same league as Super Mario World. I feel they made a huge mistake by stripping away the unique feel and abilities of the characters and rendering them all the same. In 2D Mario, Luigi is not the same without his flutter jump, Peach needs to hover, Toad should be blazing fast. In this regard, even SMB2 is superior. Best 2D Mario SINCE Yoshi's Island? Sure, but the competition since then has not been too crazy. Also, the music is generic and irritating in the same way that it was in the New Super Mario Bros games. However, it is definitely beautiful and creative, and will make for a fun multiplayer experience. I give it an 8/10 so far.

Besides Wonder, still grinding towards 100% in Mario Odyssey and Octopath Traveler. I BEAT THE "DARKER SIDE" CHALLENGE LEVEL IN ODYSSEY THIS PAST WEEK!! 540/999 moons so far. In Octopath, characters are 92-94 and barely moving. It takes about 4 hours of grinding to move up a single level now. We'll get there though... one step at a time.

@Grail_Quest I think they removed unique abilities so everyone had an even playing field, and so if you preferred one character's design over another's, you wouldn't have to sacrifice your favourite move set either. I totally get where you're coming from though.

@Vexx234 Awesome quest! I did the Final Fantasy run last year (or the year before?) and have played Dragon Quest 1-5 so far.

What is your play order, how far into it are you, and what are your thoughts so far?

My oldest kid is currently playing Hotel Transylvania: Scary-Tale Adventures, so I’ve been taking turns playing that with him. I also recently downloaded the demo for Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon, so this weekend seems about as good a time as any to try it out. Oh yeah, I’ll probably play a bit more of Detective Pikachu Returns, as I’ve been taking my time playing the game.

I'm currently playing through the Blue lions route on Fire Emblem three houses, really enjoying it. I wanna see all routes, so I'm playing pokemon snakewood on the side just in time for spoopy season.

Really wish I could be playing Mario Wonder.. but my local posting company royally screwed things up, so now I won't be playing it until tuesday. So damn frustrating.. Oh well. Guess i'll just play some more Xenoblade 3 for the time being..

Started Mario Wonder and it's absolutely amazing, it looks great and is just a joy to play. I've also got Spider-Man 2 but will wait until my day off on Monday to start it

Playing Wonder and loving it! I know it’s good so far because of my tea test. I sit down to play with a hot cup of tea. Next thing I know, the tea is cold and I have a big smile on my face.

Metroid Prime Remastered - have collected 10 of the 12 Chozo Artefacts. Only 2 more then on to the final bosses.

Also playing Dead by daylight on Switch.

This fortnight's hobby funds narrowly jinxed out of the overdue RF3S investment yet again (sigh, here's to November 21 at latest), I've rationally found nothing better to do than splurge them away on current Switch sales instead. A couple of the resulting recruits (Valkyria Chronicles 4, Gods Will Fall) are expected to sit in the backlog for now but the others (Tribes of Midgard, Ultimate ADOM, Sword of the Vagrant, The Guise, Hover, Scrapnaut) will likely join this weekend's whim list in whatever combination I'll decide to clear up the storage space for. Beyond that, aforesaid whim list includes traditional plans for more Xenoblade goodness on top of other Switch RPGs like thr first Valkyria Chronicles, RF5, Fuga, Agarest War, and CrossCode, resident roguelites like Undermine, Hades, Morta and Swindle, resident evils like, er, Resident Evil 0 and Layers of Fear 2, other backlog dishes like Before We Leave, Vostok Inc and Pinball Wizard... that sorta thing.

PS4 is benched this week, but Deck, on the heels of finally finishing Just Cause 2 (100% reportedly unobtainable without modding, my own 98.29% sounds pretty darn "complete" to me as it is; if I need to seek a dictator's remaining statues somewhere outside standard settlements, then Panay had one job as a dictator, too🙄😆), is expected to see some action over JC3, Horizon, NFS Payback and the local RPGs like FFXIII, Operation Abyss and Nights of Azure while the handhelds may see more Pokemon Moon/Gold, RF1, Endless Frontier, Unwound Future and possibly the recently installed Marvel Ultimate Alliance (I opted for the PSP version for some reported extra characters and missions it has). Valentia, Eternia, Fantasy Life and God Eater may elbow themselves some spotlight, too.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Splatoon 3 (Splatoween incoming!), and hopefully finish Xenoblade Chronicles - Future Connected.

I'm enjoying the online element of Wonder much more than I thought I would. It feels like a very friendly community of people helping each other out.

I’ve dropped everything to play through Wonder with my daughter. Since she’s younger, how they handle multiplayer coop is super important to whether she’ll have a good time with these types of games or get frustrated and quit. So far the mechanic of one person having the crown and controlling the screen while the other can get lost but floats back as a ghost has worked well. And not being able to bump into each other also lessens the frustration. We’re having a blast

Sonic Superstars, I think Wonder looks good, so will probably be the next Switch game I pick up.

Still playing Shin Megami Tensei V exclusively on the weekends. I just made it to the 4th and final area, although I heard there's a difficulty spike around this point, so it may take awhile to finish. Still, it feels like I'm heading for the home stretch after nearly 2 months with this one. I do wish I could be playing Mario Wonder, but I'm asking for it as a birthday gift in February, so that'll be something to look forward to, I guess.

I sure wonder what I'll be playing, indeed.

Other than the obvious, I'm trying to play some more HeartGold / SoulSilver as well.

I have to wait until the 30th to play Wonder, so I’m going to play through Mail Mole this weekend. I began it yesterday and it’s a fun little 3d platformer. A good one for kids, I’d say.

I'm mostly playing Wonder, but have also been sipping back into Two Worlds on the Xbox 360.

Yes it's janky and the voice acting is atrocious, but the ambition is laudable. I'm only playing it to hoover up a couple of achievements I missed back in the day, so can mainly avoid the plot and dialogue.

Due to my recent unemployment, I won’t be partaking fully in the Mario festivities until Christmas when I get it for my daughter. But my friend has a copy and we’re going to give it a blast today on multiplayer with the kids.
I did have enough to scrap by for Warm Snow and I’m sure to get my monies worth. Great game so far if you like games like Hades.
Outside of that, we’re in the final stretch on Pikmin 4 and I’m also having some fun (albeit anxiety) in the restaurant on Cook Serve Delicious!

YOU KNOW WHAT WE’RE PLAYING 🍄

Tons of TOTK, BOTW, and Rocket League. Also completely loving Super Mario Ganesha (the elephant does remove a lot of barriers!). Robbin Cove (or whatever the level is called) just blew me away with how fun and joyful it is. Mosa Lina is a fun, creative, one screen platformer I've been enjoying on steam.
Oh, and I'm head over heals for Kingdom Eighties. The amazing music, superb gameplay, and awesome visuals (love the redwoods, Frank Lloyd Wright architecture with the Marin County building in level 2) add up to another stellar Kingdom game! It doesn't run perfectly on Switch, but it still is great on Switch.

The wife and I may begin our co-op campaign of SMBW on Sunday if time permits. We’ll probably play an hour or so per session so it might take a while to get through the game. 😅

In other news, 36 hours later and I completed Pikmin 4. I’ve played every mainline Pikmin game since 1, and really am shocked by the the quality and the amount of content in Pikmin 4. To be clear, that was 36 hours to see all content and even until that last hour the surprises and hits just kept on coming. Did not and will not attempt to get platinums on each Dandori challenge or whatever. If I have a criticism, it’s that the post-game might be more engaging than the tail end of the main campaign, and that Oatchi is so powerful, you feel handicapped without him. I love that pup though. This might be second to Pikmin 2 as the best Pikmin game, and really is in some ways the perfection of the spirit of that game.

So now I will probably be wrapping up my playthrough of Guardians of the Galaxy on PS5 before my PS+ month runs out and starting my JPN play-through of Star Ocean on my PSP. This weekend includes my birthday and though the wife is working, getting some alone time to just do some gaming ain’t a shabby gift.

I’m having a much deserved weekend getaway with my wife so I won’t be playing much until late Sunday evening. However, I do have Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 waiting for me - preordered, downloaded, and ready to go - when I get back.

Throughout the week, I managed to beat and get the platinum trophy for Cyberpunk 2077 (the base game). It was a phenomenal experience, even after 100+hours. I’ve yet to touch Phantom Liberty, but I plan on setting that expansion to the side until I beat Spider Man 2 and Alan Wake 2.

I don’t want to risk burnout on what’s critically considered an incredible addition to what is now one of my all time favorite games. Near the end of base 2077, I felt myself not reading archived conversations, looking at my phone while some dialogue conversations played out, and simply running and gunning throughout some gigs. Clearly, I need(ed) a break, and I don’t want to do Phantom Liberty a disservice.

I just beat The Demon King yesterday in Tears of the Kingdom, and now it’s time to play with a rather WONDERful game! I played three hours of it yesterday-beautiful! Blues Toads my boi

I started Wonder Friday night at 11:30, after having spent the day preparing for a four-day vacation. Can't wait to leave, and can't wait to GET BACK!!!

This morning I’m wondering if Super Mario Bros. Wonder will be wondrous enough to hold the kiddos’ attention for more than 15 mins of co-op. Every Saturday lately we end up being “alone together” while they are on tablets and I do chores or play Switch. We’re in a real funk. 😓

Well, I saved this game to play with them, so I’ll make the invitation and see what happens! If nothing else, Luigi and I will have a go at it.

Honestly knowing that there are multiple DLC packs for Alan Wake combined with the digital only has made me really not care about playing Alan Wake 2 anytime soon. I do not want to have to reinstall the whole thing each time DLC arrives and if there’s no disc version I’m just going to wait.

So it’s Mario all the way for me! And I’ll get to Spider-Man 2 in good time. Might wait again for the version that comes with all the DLC.

@Vexx234 Nice!! As someone who has underwent the same endeavor years prior, how are you finding them and which are you playing right now? Are you paying them all in their original incarnation (with English ROM hacks for some) or are you playing remakes?

@HaileySheridon Mischief Makers is a solid classic and like you I wish it was re-released in some form, at least so that those great boss fights could be experienced by a new generation.

@Neckcrane I’m so sorry to hear about your situation!! Hope you find something soon!! I don’t know where you are in Pikmin 4, but it might have more content than you realize, so I hope you get everything out of it you want.

I’m considering getting Super Mario Bros Wonder with a game voucher, but I wasn’t able to download it last night because I had to transfer all of my save data and games to a larger micro sd card. I mean, it was worth the wait. I now have over 800 gb in free space left!

I also got Tekken 7 on my Xbox during a sale along with the Geese Howard DLC. Might give that and Tears of the Kingdom some time while I have a long weekend. Stay warm!

Barely started it, TBH, but it’s perfect for this time of year. Good production values so far.

Mario Wonder all the way! I’ve been having tons of fun with the online aspects of the game, it feels like I’m playing through the game with everyone else at the same time.

I’ve never really been into Animal Crossing before, but last week I popped in the original on GameCube and it’s been a blast.

I've started the excellent Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and so far it's a blast! I'm not far into my Flower Kingdom adventure due to my schedule, but what I have played - as Princess Daisy! - has felt smooth, intuitive, and fully bonkers so far.

In the heavy story department, I've decided to finally FINALLY FINALLY (after saying I would for years) start the first game in Ace Attorney Trilogy. Specifically Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. I've heard great praise for this series, and if it's anything awesome like Ghost Trick, I'm sure I'll enjoy the ride.

As usual, a bit of Pokemon Go will be played while out and about. It's a beautiful fall weekend here, so I'll be getting outside a little.

Further on my Tears of the Kingdom exploration and having a grand time. I've done virtually nothing asked of me on the main quest aside from the Tears themselves (I don't know how to do the spoiler mask, hopefully that's innocuous) and somehow just came up with the Master Sword.

@Teksetter I feel you on the kid rut. Aside from Mariokart, it's been hard to keep them together when the weather isn't good enough to go out. My oldest came up with Boomerang Fu and an occasional other B Tier game that you can get on the cheap for quick plays, sometimes it helps to know what the kids are streaming 😀

Tales of Vesperia REMASTER –Met Judith and she introduced herself.
BIOHAZARD REVELATIONS – finished 7th level on A rank and finished 8th level on B rank again. I still have a 16th level profile. Continue playing the game as Rachel Foley, of course. She's my favourite character in the game.
Android:
Burly Men at Sea – got 4 more endings. Now, in total, I have unlocked 6/12 endings.
Strange Telephone – got 4th, 5th, and, 6th endings in the game. Total playtime is 1 hour and 7 minutes...
Well... That's all what I've played on this week... Have a nice gaming week, everyone.

I unlocked all achievements and 10ng+ runs in Starfield so now I'm taking a break from gaming before I either jump back to wrap up TotK or do another run in Cyberpunk. Have a good weekend everybody!

Started and beat Castlevania 1 earlier on in the week (and very nearly lost my sanity in the process XD) so I might keep the train rolling and start Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest as well; I've heard exceptionally divisive things about it but I'm keen to give it a go nonetheless just to see how weird it truly is.

Other than that then, it'll most likely be a mixture of Darkstalkers (nearly finished Felicia's arcade run and holy hell they might just be my main), Splatoon 3 (gotta get in some Splatfest prep for Team Ghost!) and potentially even Mario Party 2 with my sister depending on whether N64 NSO works with single Joy-Cons (if not then it'll probably be Mario Kart 8 Deluxe instead).

Overall, a decently spooky weekend that'll be a nice way to prepare for the midterm holidays coming next week! 😁

I wonder what everyone is playing

I finally finished Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII last week. I don't think it was that bad but it's definitely my least favorite in the trilogy.

This weekend I'll be playing what most people are playing...Super Mario Bros Wonder. I'm going to be starting it with my siblings so I'm pretty excited.

I don't know what to do. I've got Wonder from the Curry's pre-order deal. However I fly to Japan in less than 4 weeks. Perfect game for when on the flight.
That's when Mario RPG gets released.

Today I'll be playing a game where I try to fit the backyard furniture back into the shed. It's a game I like to call getting ready for winter. LOL.

But earlier today I continued my quest to hack away at Ocarina of Time (3DS). I've finished the 3rd dungeon and getting ready for the 4th dungeon. This game has so much depth.

Later I'm going to try to get my daughter to play another level (or 2) of Kirby and the Forgotten Land. We are pretty close to finishing that one off. But I think she'll want to try to hack away at Cuphead.

Haven’t posted on one of these in quite a long time, as I’ve not had a lot of opportunities to play video games in a while, but this weekend I actually do have some games to talk about. Right now I’m mostly playing Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Forza Motorsport. Mario is a lot of fun so far, and it’s definitely far more interesting and unique than the New Super Mario Bros. series ever was. I’m really liking the variety of levels, and I’m not even done with Pipe-Rock Plateau yet. Forza Motorsport is my first motorsport game of any kind, as I’ve only really played Forza Horizon in the past. I’m really liking it so far though, even if I’m not very good at it. I like the Builder’s Cups and the variety of races and cars they bring to the experience as well.

On the multiplayer side of things I’ve been really only playing Overwatch 2 for the past month or two, as my friends have been really into it lately.

I beat Dicey Dungeons' last Halloween episode last night. Today will probably just be Blissey raids with family in Scarlet.

I've been in a retro/old arcade games "mode" the last week or so.

Got the Namco Museum Archives Volume 2 collection of old NES games in a sale for 5 € a few month ago and, and finally decided to put some real time/effort into it last sunday.

And it actually surprised me quite a lot; there's some really good games in it: Dig Dug 2 is a vastly underrated game imo and the NES port is really good; the NES version of Galaga I actually enjoy more than the arcade version (it's quite different to the arcade version with much larger sprites and a much more "confined" space/experience).

Mappy-Land is quite fun too and better than the Mappy arcade game imo; Gaplus is actually a new NES port (from 2020) of the arcade game (which is a sequel to Galaga and sort of Galaga on steroids); Mendel Palace is an interesting game (and Gamefreak's first ever game btw).

I also played Rolling Thunder (both the NES version and the arcade version - the latter via the Namco Museum arcade games collection); they never really "gelled" with me, but they're quite fun games nonetheless.

What really surprised me though is, that i fired up my PSP yesterday to try to play some old ZX Spectrum games via the Fuse emulator, and I kind of stumbled over the ZX Spectrum version in my library (of said Rolling Thunder) and found myself enjoying it more than the arcade and NES versions.

The ZX Spectrum version just seems a bit more fun and doable although not exactly perfect; there's no music and only Beeper spot effects. But graphically it's well done and it's plays quite nicely.

I didn't think there was any more life left in the old Speccy games for me, as I hadn't played any for more than a year. But it seems I was wrong .

Mario Wonder’s out, you say? I don’t have it just yet…but that’s definitely a “yet”. I’m definitely getting it within the next few months.

In the meantime, Yo-kai Watch 1 for 3DS will once again keep me occupied. My new cartridge came in and I’ve finally caught up to the seventh chapter, where I was before on my bad cartridge. Finally, new material! (…As new as material from a 2015 game can be, anyway.)

As someone who still has very little experience with Pokémon (yeah, I know, I know…), I’ve quite liked this game so far. The battles are rather unique, but they seem to work and are more dependent on player action than it might seem at first. Actually, there’s a lot of strategy involved, and maybe I’m just underleveled, but these bosses can be tough! The dialog is hilarious and I can’t begin to count the number of satirized tropes here. And the attention to detail here is incredible: you can visit the house of your best friend (who happens to be the protagonist you don’t choose) just to hear one totally optional line of dialog each chapter, and the game cares a lot about jaywalking and will penalize you if you do it too much. (Beware if you have a tendency to run recklessly through city streets!)

Really close to the end. Can't continue strategy portion until I've completed all the visual novel stuff which is at 92% right now.

I'd say the game is bit too long. It kind of loses its umph once you've got the biggest mysteries out of the way. Sometimes a section gives you only a tiny additional tidbit to everything you already know. Still and excellent game, though.

I just suddenly got the urge to play this game today. It's a game from my childhood I like to go back to once in a while. It's just stupid fun, at least the regular stages. Though I must admit, the platforming level where you jump from roof to roof wasn't as hard as I remembered. I could never beat that stage as a kid, but luckily, I knew the cheats and could just advance to the next stage whenever I ran into an obstacle.

No time at the moment for Spider-Man 2 so haven't picked that up yet. Mario Wonder for me.

Mario Wonder and Red Dead (finally physical)… I need to add. I was console only before the switch… but now when playing switch I am probably a 99% of the time handheld player.
I just put it on the tv because I wanted to see Mario Wonder on the big screen… Red Dead is last game I played and I am blown away…absolutely beautiful.
I can’t believe I’m playing it on a Nintendo. I’m excited to check out a whole bunch of other games on the big screen. Litterly feels like I have a new console….
Further making me question why we need a switch 2 haha. Would still love me Ghosts of Tashima on the switch but physical only… looking at you switch 2.
Seriously been having the conversation with friends recently… when physical media goes away for gaming I might pick up a system and I’d probably only ever buy maybe 1 game a year (major only new games of Mario,Zelda,GTA6, ect…). I would save money but it’s gonna be disastrous for the industry I feel.
One of the most exciting parts of a console reveal for me is what the media will be on… disc or cart (or some fancy new unknown storage technology) and what the packaging will look like. These switch carts to me are literally like catching Pokémon or collecting coins in the wild on release day (I went to 3 towns and six stores before I found red dead physical last week).
That’s part of the memories made for me with physical gaming. Gotta collect um all or atleast the cool ones I wanna play again.
With that said there is a 100% chance I would not be playing red dead if it was digital only… or any other rerelease for that matter. A digital collection is something I’ll never understand.
That’s what really shook up the world with Napster, limewire, Pirate Bay, ect…. When life started moving digital it was a free for all…quite frankly I think the gaming industry is far behind in this realm. I would expect there is going to be a huge uptick in pirating when physical is nonexistent.
Huge drop in sales and huge spike in pirating I’d predict. I’m only playing most of my games I own because I own them and can hold them in my hands. When it’s digital only (personally I have a nice back log so I’d be fine for a long time), but if I were younger. I would not care on console brands anymore. I’d want the one I could crack easily and fill with digital games. Half of gaming is physical for me… take that away and it will get boring fast. I like standing up and finding a game and putting it in. Without that I just scroll the digital library like I do with Netflix choices.
Edit…..This rant comes after seeing the bare bones gaming areas at Best Buy, Target and the Walmart guy who told me the physical gaming area will do away with Xbox physical early in 24’ and have only a small area for PlayStation and Nintendo…. All the while gamestops trying to sell me “new items” that they have gutted to display…. When every other case on the wall is the generic white with word. Blah… ha

@Mjoen I'm with you on physical games. I have an e-shop wishlist and just use it as a checklist for buying the games physically. Every time I order one, I delete it from the wishlist. Unfortunately, the world is evolving away from people like us. Not too distraught though, I have enough games in my physical collection to span multiple lifetimes, and if Nintendo moves away from physical after Switch 2, (another 7-8 years from now) I'll probably be too old to care. Lol

I Hope Nintendo realizes they are dominating and selling multiple copies because the games come on the cute little carts and not because people need 5 copies of the same game. Lol do I need all the assassin’s creed games on Nintendo…. Not at all (specially when I have free ones I’ve been given digitally from PlayStation over the years that I have yet to boot up ever)…. But that game on a little cart… as the kids would say… hits different on a switch when I pop it in.
When everything goes digital Sony and Xbox at the end of the day will never have Zelda or Mario and that’s kinda a huge deal. Nintendo could crush them if they stay physically and the other two go digital. Blah anyways. Taking to much time away from the games haha. Wonder is wonderful and red dead WOW really… and it all fit on the cart!

Plants vs. Zombies (Windows Phone) - This game is a guilty pleasure of mine. I'll probably pick this on my wife's Android phone at some point so I can play it down the road. Time to beat it again and clear it off of this dying phone for now though!

I will more than likely be playing MLB The Show 23, and plenty of Super Mario Wonder this weekend. Two quality titles that will easily divide my attention, and provide enjoyful, meaningful experiences.

I popped Arms back in the Switch yesterday after so long, and had a blast. Really enjoy the feel of that game, also love the soundtrack.

Today I finally got SMB Wonder and it's great, lives to and beyond the expectations. I love how it's a whole gay musical, it's super beautiful and joyful, and nicely challenging, all the different little bonus levels all over the place... love love love

The girls and I ended up playing the first 3 stages together before they tired. I went on and finished most of World 1. It’s a fun game, full of surprises, and utterly adorable at times - the kids enjoyed spectating some of the funnier parts while I soloed. They’re just not that into platformer games, being raised on Roblox and Minecraft and ad-powered mobile shovelware. 😝

We have to keep nudging them toward the great games out there. 😉

I just got For The King the other day on sale, so I'm gonna be playing that.

Wrapped up the story for Disgaea 7 (so now the game can officially begin). Definitely an improvement over 6 in gameplay.

Tried out a few of the latest courses in F-Zero 99 (I've been busy haha). I'll definitely have to make time to practice them eventually.

Of course it will have to wait, since Mario Wonder is here. I'm playing through the entire thing in co-op with my brother...and all of the random people we come across! How quick a sense of camaraderie develops when we're all struggling through the same section. Strangers will often wait to make sure we all get through in one piece. Such a joy. Though you do have players who will make a point of avoiding your ghost too haha.

Still playing Baten Kaitos and of course it's Mario time baby!

Also I'm on the fence about borderlands 3. I'm replaying through 2 on the switch and having a blast. I don't know how 3 switch version compares to 2 switch version.

This weekend is a heavy one, Got Sonic Superstars & Super Mario Wonder & an unexpectable purchase which is Diablo IV! this will keep me busy for a while.

Octopath Traveler: Working my way through Chapter III's now, everyone at 41 except Primrose as my main at 52. Enjoying seeing everyone's individual stories progress, and beginning to understand how it all will connect. Great visuals (if not my go-to for gaming), simple but showy combat, awesome voices: it's all coming together nicely.

SMBW is awesome so far and is a pleasant surprise. I thought I was tired of 2D Mario but this is proving me wrong.
So creative, so highly polished.

Pikmin 4 is stunning, it’s actually up there joint with TOTK as my Ninty GOTYs. I’ve completed the main mission and in the end game content now. Olimar’s side story is much more in line with the original game so it’s a lovely little throw back. You can tell a lot of love went into it and wasn’t just a quick quota to fill. 10/10

@Neckcrane Glad you’re loving it. I did really enjoy the Olimar story and even the stuff after that still kept me entertained and on my toes. It’s really great.

I've played through the first world of Super Mario Bros. Wonder and it's been great so far. I'm not completely wowed by it, weirdly enough. Mario fatigue, perhaps? Maybe the other worlds will do a better job of captivating me.

But I have been hopelessly addicted to Fire Emblem Engage, which I skipped at launch due to lack of interest, but I finally caved in a couple of weeks ago as it was quite cheap. I've already clocked in over 60 hours in that time (a lot of thoroughly enjoyable grinding involved).

Following the very disappointing Three Houses, Engage was almost exactly what I wanted out of a new Fire Emblem game, and it plays very much like Awakening/Fates on 3DS, which I very thoroughly enjoyed. Initially, Engage did nothing for me when it was first announced, but the gameplay almost immediately won me over. My only real criticism of the game is in the low quality static backgrounds that they use instead of 3D renders in support and in-engine cutscenes. The game is also a touch too heavy on the cutscenes generally, to the point of tedium.

Three Houses was fine, with fantastic production values (significantly better than Engage's) but there was so much fluff in between battles that it no longer felt like a full-fledged Fire Emblem experience. I can't remember how many hours I had poured into that (I'd barely made a dent in it, and I understand that it contains three distinct campaigns), but I might feel differently once I'm done with Engage.

Oh boi what a absolutely amazing down right WOWIE ZOWIE weekend it’s been and I’m just so happy. Saw the new Scorsese movie Killers Of The Flower Moon and honestly it was just excellent. Little slow to start but Martin really is a visionary. Of course like everyone else I’ve been playing loads of Super Mario Bros Wonder. I love it so much it’s utterly excellent and honestly might be my GOTY. I’m blown away each new level I do. Of course that’s not the only new game that came out that I’m checking out. I also dabbled in some Spider-Man 2 and honestly there are moments in it so far that if you ask me make Final Fantasy XVI blush. I think I’ll also take a break off of Mario Wonder today to do some Sonic Superstars I’m very excited for that one. Also I’ll probably wrap up the RE7 DLC later tonight too so I can move onto the Seperate Ways DLC for Resident Evil 4 Remake this week. Finally playing some new RE content for Halloween feels good. Of course I’ll be doing the usual rotation of games this week of Rain Code and FFXVI and TOTK and Fire Emblem and Sea Of Stars and stuff but of course throwing in some of our new additions there too. And of course that’s not even counting the fact that yeah I still have a new game this week in the absolutely legendary Alan Wake II. Granted I’ll probably delve into that next week as my yearly special Halloween game I start on Halloween but to say I am excited is a understatement. Extremely good time for gaming hahaha. As for the Fall Anime I’ve shook out some clear winners. Spy X Family, Shangri-La Frontier, 100 Girlfriends who really love you, Eminence In Shadow, Inexperienced Love Story and Frieren. All simply superb and excellent intros too. As for the podcasts this week we got the usual awesome killers like Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension and Into The Aether. But of course we got Remap Radio and Minnmax coming in hot again as just really excellent things to listen to while really getting into some of these excellent games coming out. @MischiefMaker Oh, that's sad about your Nintendo 64. I hope you get a chance to play it again. I was surprised they didn't add it to the Wii Store or Nintendo eShop on Wii and Wii U when they were adding Nintendo 64. It is a very underrated game and I think a lot of newer gamers would enjoy it. Fingers crossed they bring it back for the Switch. 😀
