Persona 3 Portable & Persona 4 Golden Physical Editions Announced For Switch

For a short moment I thought it said "Persona 3 Reload Announced For Switch"

Bit of a shame it's through LRG and not a standard release but it's cool we're finally getting physicals

Also lol announcing a 200 special edition shortly after Reload went up for preorder

Good stuff. Whether these are numbered releases or distribution releases, I'll be a buyer.

What nonsense. I'm not giving LRG my money after waiting a million years for Gunvolt 3.

So I can wait until October 27 to buy both, right? P3 won't sell out? I forget how LRG does their pre-orders.

Gonna assume LRG contacted Atlus/Sega right away when they realized they were not going to produce a physical copy for both of these games for the Switch.

While it is nice that these are finally getting modern physical editions, the fact that Sega has only done these through LRG just shows that LRG's size allows big companies like Sega to bwe lazy and not have to make a wide-spread physical release, even if only in Japan

@kennykenny LRG's pre-orders are open pre-orders so that everyone who wants a copy can get a pre-order, allowing LRG to know how many copies to print after the pre-order ends

Might skip P3 knowing reload is a thing. Going straight for P4G

Great news! Two years ago I needed cash and there were rumors P3P would be ported to Switch, so I sold my PSP copy (I also own FES PS2 and digital P3P). I was disappointed when it turned out that P3P and P4G were digital only on Switch and I ended up not buying them, but I was hoping this would change, and now here we are!

@kennykenny Yeah that's how this works, there is gonna be in window between October 27th and November 12th where you can order both at the same time.

I would've been happy to buy these back in January or even wait patiently if they'd been announced back then (after all, I only just beat P5 last week), but after months of silence and the digital bundle going on sale with a heavy markdown, I can't justify buying copies of the same games for the same system.

Inflated prices, long waiting and shipping times, and at rare times being actually limited causing FOMO.

LRG can suck it.

As a UK fan of collecting physical games there are no words more disheartening to read than “courtesy of Limited Run Games”

this really annoys me I don't like buying games digital, I'm a physical collector but I bought P3P and P4G digital because I was convinced there would be no physical copy, yes this is Limited Run and not Atlus but still also P3P + P4G are more expensive physical than on the e-shop

Darn, thought this might happen. Already played through p3p and was just gonna wait to get 4. 4 went on sale so I caved and am 30 hours in. Would have preferred physical to go with my physical copy of p5r. I don’t think I’ll buy these games again

I’m more interested in the P4 physical because it’s my personal favorite game, but DANG is that a good way to get P3. You have representation for all three (currently available) versions with the base box art being Portable’s art, the steel book being the vanilla box art, and the slip cover being the FES art. That’s a smart way to do it, not one I would’ve thought of. Not to mention in the SEES Edition we get the mandatory Evoker item and an armband, I wouldn’t buy it for $200 personally but that’s some good bang for your buck with stuff like the soundtrack CD thrown in there. It kinda sucks it’s Limited Run and I don’t like P3 (specifically Portable) enough to double dip, but depending on how that P4G physical turns out, I may very well grab one for myself. Again, it’s my favorite game of all time. I’d love to be able to display my favorite game of all time for anyone to see, plus it’s not like it wouldn’t be worth it since I’d easily have paid $60 when I bought it digitally, still comes out to less than that.

I'll probably buy the P4G physical in October but I wish Sega or Atlus had just published a normal release like the P5R port.

Can't really justify it for myself. These are really well priced on the eShop, and even so I struggle to buy P3P.

These came out in January, correct? Which means their physical versions won't ship until over a year later. Ugh. Pre-order for 2 months then wait 4-6 months more to get your hard copy. Crap.

I'd be all over this if I hadn't sold my Switch and if I buy another in the future then I'll definitely grab them off eBay. Until then I'm currently playing Soul Hackers 2 on my laptop and will be playing Persona 3 Reload when it comes out.

I was excited until I saw who does it.

So the shipment time will take what? 6 month? Or more like a year?

Anyhow by the time they ship this, the physical version of P3 Reload is out and I finished playing it (no Switch sadly)

Long long ago these guys were passionate and you could forgive them a lot back in the Vita days, because passion, game nerds and they really tried it.

But the past 2 to 4 years they became greedy.

As for P4G, got the physical Vita one (very solid version) and I finished playing that and my PC copy.

At some point I get the Switch one digitally, finish that twice and I wouldn’t be surprised if by then, they still didn’t ship the Switch physical of it.

Sigh…

Limited Run once again stealing obvious retail titles for themselves. Remember when they were the bastion of smaller indie devs? They've conned people into thinking they're doing a service to the gaming community when instead they're arbitrarily limiting their reach. If Persona 4 can get a physical on Vita, it sure as heck can on Switch.

Gonna get it through Best Buy anyways so just bring it.

Good to see that a physical version is happening, but I do question if this will be the only way to get these, as some Limited Run releases were also available through Play Asia. Regardless, if I could only choose one, that one would have to be Persona 4. As that's the one I knew of first.

LimitedRunGames have said that there will be a window where you can order both games together to save on postage ... super handy for us here in England to save a few £££'s

I waited until last announced day to preorder a game that included a steelbok, and they closed the open preorders a couple of days earlier. When I asked them why they told me they were satisfied with preorder quota for steenboks. This was Ys Origins, long before LRG was bought by embracer. Things are a but better now? just slightly; I m pretty sure they will honour the dates announced; but I never wait until the last day.

Even if reload does come to switch or it’s successor you’re still not getting the complete P3 story. I honestly don’t know what’s so hard about making a definitive version of the game with content from all three releases (Female main character, party control and The Answer).

I don't know much about Persona 3, but I will definitely be getting Persona 4 Golden.

I currently play all the 3 games on my Switch (2nd playthrough for P4G and P5R coming from other platforms). I'm interested in the Persona 4 physical but maybe I'm better off getting some merch instead. I'm sure these will run out very quickly since there are a lot of SMT/Persona collectors.

@JohnnyMind Lrg releases typically get a retail release these days for standard editions. Check best buy or amazon in the upcoming months.
